Let's talk about the past...
When you first moved into your current living space, you were a different person...because the experiences you live through change who you are on a daily basis. You chose to live and grow in a space that had potential and you immediately saw the warm, efficient, and loving space that you would decorate perfectly and grow your life in. Based on the style at the time you chose great colors, comfortable but stylish furniture, and fun accessories secure in the knowledge that your home was shaping up just the way you imagined.
Then one day you wake up and realize you need an upgrade or just a bit of change.
Today we are going to take a quick look at a fantastic renovation and redecoration of a kitchen that was once just right, but came to need a makeover. This is an actual job that our designer Debbie McCarter performed, and it's amazing!
Look at the Before...
Here we see a nice kitchen with good sturdy bones and a solid design that originally worked for the owners. While there is a nice window, there isn't a light feel to the room, and the dark wood definitely does not reflect the light available. The counter tops look a touch dated, and have various items stored on them keeping them from being useable space.
The first step is to define the needs of the client. In our last blog we spoke about the perfect design creating efficiency and reflecting your style. Debbie sat down with the client and listened to what still worked in the room and what no longer offered that efficient factor. She then created a plan for the renovation that encompassed both design, budget, and a time frame for the completion of the project (this is a crucial step since we want our customers to have an idea how long their life may be impacted by their renovation).
Debbie worked closely with the client and was able to create a new and amazing kitchen renovation within their budget. Deb had her work cut out for her. However, we think the final product is stunning!
Welcome to the present...
This new design created a light filled space with a great neutral palette, more cabinet space, and a fresh modern feel.
Glass front cabinets create a depth to the eye that makes the room feel larger and the tall white cabinets raise your gaze and create height. Stainless steel appliances are much more contemporary, but still retain a long term clean and classic look. Debbie added built in appliances like the microwave to create more counter space, and she opened up the look of the window with simple blinds instead of drapery.
Notice the flooring...a stunning neutral wood contrast which helps highlight the clean white palette. The ceiling is also a clean white finish and lighting has been replaced with simple clean fixtures and recessed lights.
Now we can't give away all her artistic secrets, but I think you'll agree she created a fabulous space for her clients, who are ecstatic with their new kitchen.
